What is a Retreat?
A retreat is exactly what it sounds like — the chance to step aside from life for a while, to rest and just 'be' in a welcoming, peaceful place. Retreats offer the opportunity to: find space, reflect, pray and worship in peaceful and comfortable surroundings. Some of them might involve different activities like walking or gardening. There are two types:
Individually Guided Retreats
These retreats are held in an atmosphere of quiet and enable individuals (who are accompanied by an experienced prayer guide) to respond to the call of Christ in their lives. The days include a time of prayer and worship together but is tailored to the needs of each individual.
Conducted Retreat
These retreats are more group focused and are conducted by a leader. They are usually held over a weekend or Mon-Fri. A typical day will involve a 0900 Morning Prayer, 1000 Address (a talk lasting about 20 minutes), 1200 Eucharist, 1300 Lunch, 1600 Address, 1730 Evening Prayer, 1830 Supper and 2100 Night Prayer. Please contact us to discuss further.

Fridays at Edenham
Every Friday (except Good Friday) the Eucharist is celebrated at 12noon in the Stable Chapel. This is a quiet, unhurried time and includes a short address on the day’s readings. It lasts about forty-five minutes. Afterwards, for those able and willing to stay, there is a ‘bring and share’ lunch in the dining room. All are welcome of any Christian tradition.
Group / individual bookings and use of meeting rooms
We welcome individuals, small groups and larger bookings of up to 30 people. Our aim is to make the house as accessible as possible. Suggested donation is £16 per person (inc lunch) or £8 per person (own lunch). Free tea / coffee and biscuits are available for the day.
There are no set charges at Edenham, the suggested contribution for a day, which includes lunch and refreshments is £16.00 – guests give more or less according to circumstances and inclination. To book a place or make an enquiry and notify of any dietary requirements, please call 01778 591358
